Yes, you can go to Sandakphu by Car. However, personal cars are strictly restricted here. Thus, to travel to Sandakphu, you must book an old-model Land Rover from Manebhanjan. It will take nearly 3 hours to cover 32 km between Manebhanjan and Sandakphu, considering the refreshment breaks in between.
By car, you can reach Sandakphu, which will take nearly 4 hours to reach Manebhanjan from NJP station, which will be your starting point and is nearly 85 km away from NJP. You can also start from Bagdogra Airport and reach Manebhanjan. From here, it will take you another 3 hours to reach Sandakphu in the pre-booked Land Rover from Manebhanjan, which is best suited for Sandakphu’s specific terrain.
As per the new guidelines which have been issued by the Singalila Land Rover Owner’s Welfare Association, the Land Rovers here can accommodate 6 persons without any issue. 1 person can easily take the seat beside the driver and the rest 5 persons can easily occupy the back seat. Luggage and other accessories can easily be shifted to the top carrier.
